Wife of Makati Councilor Jun-Jun Binay laid to rest

The family of Makati Mayor Jejomar C. Binay today has lain to rest Mrs. Kennely Ann Lacia-Binay, the wife of Councilor Jejomar Erwin S. Binay Jr.

A mass was held at the Sacred Heart Church in Barangay San Antonio where the family and friends of Mrs. Binay paid their final respects. City government officials and employees were also present to send off Ken-ken, as Mrs. Binay is fondly called.

Those who attended the mass included Amb. Ernesto Maceda, Rep. Teddy Boy Locsin and Joey De Venecia III. Makati City Councilors served as pall bearers.

Mayor Binay, on behalf of his family, expressed their gratitude and appreciation to everyone who condoled with them during the nine-day wake held for his daughter-in-law, who died last August 11 due to complications during childbirth.

“These past days have been the most difficult period in our lives. In Ken-ken, Ellen and I found another loving daughter whose youthful zest and cheerful glow always warmed our hearts. Ken-ken was the consummate wife to Junjun, and a mother to their children. We could not have asked for more. Truly, we will miss her,” Mayor Binay said.

After the mass, Ken-ken’s remains were taken to Heritage Park in Fort Bonifacio , Taguig where she was cremated.

The ashes will be taken back to the family residence of Councilor Binay.

“Ken-ken completed me. She always made me feel I was the luckiest man in the world. It was she who gave me strength and inspiration during times of uncertainty. Now that she’s gone, I need to summon all my willpower to go on and raise our children the way she had envisioned,” the younger Binay said.

Ken-ken left behind her children – Jejomarie Alexi, 6, Maria Isabel, 3, Jejomar III, 1, and her newborn, Maria Kennely.
